Ashanti Regional NAS respond to Fire Outbreak in Kumasi
A devastating fire broke out at the Adum Market, Kumasi on Friday, 21st March , 2025, prompting a rapid response from the National Ambulance Service (NAS). Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were quickly deployed to the scene to provide medical assistance to those affected.
Upon receiving the distress call, NAS dispatched four ambulances to the location, and was led by the Regional Administrative Manager, PAEMT Duut Miilon. The EMTs attended to a total of 34 casualties, who suffered from injuries ranging from head trauma, lacerations, and chest pain to panic attacks and sudden collapses.
Fifteen (15) casualties were rushed to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Manhyia Hospital, Kumasi South Hospital, Kumasi Prisons Hospital and South Suntreso Hospital for further medical care. The remaining 19 casualties received treatment on-site and were subsequently discharged.
The swift and efficient intervention of NAS personnel played a crucial role in stabilizing patients and ensuring that those in need of advanced medical attention received timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
