The National Ambulance Service (NAS) CEO, Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, has commended the mechanics at the NAS Kumasi workshop for their dedication and hard work in maintaining and repairing ambulances to ensure uninterrupted emergency services.
During a working visit to the workshop, he praised the team for their commitment to getting ambulances back on the road, often working around the clock.
The CEO acknowledged challenges, including the lack of critical spare parts at the NAS warehouse, which requires securing funds for procurement as needed. He assured the mechanics of management's support, including capacity building for both mechanics and drivers to extend the lifespan of the ambulances.
He also highlighted plans to expand NAS workshops to regional capitals to support maintenance of the upcoming fleet of 400 new ambulances and 500 medical motorbikes, boosting operational capability.
