TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE UNDERTAKES BOARD-SANCTIONED MONITORING VISITS TO NAS STATIONS
The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the National Ambulance Service (NAS) Board has successfully completed a series of structured monitoring visits to selected ambulance stations within the Greater Accra Region.
The monitoring exercise, sanctioned by the Board at its December 2025 meeting, forms part of a broader strategic effort to strengthen governance oversight, enhance operational efficiency, and improve emergency medical service delivery nationwide.
The team was led by Brigadier General G. A. O. Appiah, Chairman of the Committee and Board Member of NAS, with active participation from ACP Dr. Owusu-Afriyie, Member of the Committee, alongside the Deputy Director of Administration and Secretary to the committee-Ms. Elizabeth Tetteh and DCAEMT Daniel Asare- Greater Accra Regional Administrative Manager.
The first point of call was the Prampram Ambulance Station, where the team was received and comprehensively briefed by the Officer-in-Charge, DCAEMT Edward Agbemafle. Discussions centered on operational readiness, response times, staffing levels, logistics, and overall service delivery within the catchment area.
The delegation subsequently visited the Greater Accra Regional Dispatch Centre, where they were briefed by SAEMT Joyce Selassie Avadzinu. The team assessed dispatch operations, coordination systems, call management efficiency, and protocol compliance in ensuring timely ambulance deployment across the region.
Throughout the visits, the Committee conducted on-site assessments and engaged frontline personnel to obtain firsthand insight into:
• Response time performance and operational readiness
• Functionality and staffing levels across stations
• Distribution of personnel and service coverage equity
• Compliance with operational and clinical protocols
• Existing service quality and competence gaps
The exercise, which will be scaled up to include other Stations and Regions, provided a valuable baseline assessment and an opportunity for direct interaction with frontline and dispatch personnel, reinforcing the Board’s commitment to evidence-based decision-making and continuous quality improvement.
A comprehensive report outlining key findings and actionable technical recommendations will be submitted to the Board to guide strategic planning, policy direction, and service enhancement initiatives.
NAS remains steadfast in its mission to deliver timely, professional, and life-saving emergency medical services to the people of Ghana. These monitoring visits underscore our unwavering commitment to accountability, performance improvement, and service excellence.
Together, we continue to build a stronger, more responsive National Ambulance Service.
