The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting major national and international health events as its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, joined His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and other distinguished health sector leaders at the opening of the 28th Annual Scientific Conference of the Association of Medical Councils of Africa (AMCOA), while NAS personnel provided dedicated emergency medical cover throughout the event.
The opening ceremony, which had H.E President Mahama as the Special Guest of Honour, brought together medical regulators, policymakers and healthcare professionals from across Africa and beyond to deliberate on issues critical to the advancement of healthcare regulation, patient safety and professional standards.
Hosted by the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, the conference is being held from 23rd to 27th August 2026 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra, under the leadership of the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
AMCOA serves as the premier continental platform for medical regulatory authorities, bringing together Medical and Dental Boards and Councils to advance excellence in medical education, professional regulation, patient safety and healthcare governance across Africa.
