The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has organized a comprehensive nationwide Financial Management and Records Training Programme aimed at strengthening financial accountability, enhancing compliance, and promoting best practices in public financial management across the Service. The training initiative, spearheaded by the Director of Finance, Mr. Victor Cofie, with the full support of the Chief Executive Officer of NAS, Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, was conducted largely through a virtual platform, enabling participation from staff across all regions of the country. A limited number of Headquarters staff were physically present, while Regional Administrators, Regional Accountants, and other key officers joined remotely. The virtual format ensured broad participation and facilitated the dissemination of critical financial management knowledge and updates to personnel nationwide without disrupting operational activities. The programme was designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage financial records, adhere to established financial management guidelines, and uphold the highest standards of accountability in the discharge of their duties. Key objectives of the training included: Assessing compliance with approved financial management policies and procedures, Strengthening internal control systems across regional offices, Promoting prudent, transparent, and accountable utilization of public resources and Enhancing financial reporting and records management practices throughout the Service. Management emphasized that sound financial management remains a critical pillar in ensuring the efficient delivery of emergency medical services and sustaining public confidence in the operations of the National Ambulance Service. The training forms part of NAS’s ongoing commitment to institutional excellence, transparency, accountability, and good governance, ensuring that resources entrusted to the Service are managed responsibly in support of its lifesaving mandate across the country.
